Nutrition Quickie:  Eat Fresh Berries, Not Dried Fruit...

I am Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter and here is your Nutrition Quickie for today.  Apply it and strengthen your nutritional foundation with multiple Quickies like this.


We know that berries are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber and anti-oxidants.  

You can eat them fresh, frozen and dried.  

Did you know that the dried version is usually a much more concentrated version with high sugar levels because all the water is pulled out? 

A 3oz portion of fresh or frozen berries is around 30 calories.  While a 3oz portion of dried fruit is around 350 calories.  

Opt for fresh to enjoy a juicer version that is lower in sugar and a lot lower calories.
