Why Is Green Tea So Popular For Anti Aging Diets?

You have probably heard that green tea is good for you and can improve your health.

What can it really do though?

Clinical research has shown that green tea help protect you from cancer, heart disease, increased weight loss and provide more energy and stamina.

Green tea contains amazing anti-oxidant power because of the polyphenols which it contains.  These polyphenols act as antioxidants to kill off the free radicals and 'active' oxygen molecules that contribute to aging and disease.

A polyphenol that green tea has is called catechins which include epicatechin (EC), epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechin gallate (ECG) and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).  This last one EGCG makes up almost 50% of the total catechin level and is the most powerful of these 4 catechins.

The EGCG in green tea appears to be 25-100 times more potent than Vitamin E and Vitamin C.  I mentioned the clinical studies that show protection from cancer and it does this by blocking the mutation of cells and reducing the cell damage.

EGCG may also block certain liver enzymes that can convert cells into carcinogen cells which we know can lead to cancer.  Green tea may also block enzymes that can cause cancer cells to grow.

A cup of green tea may provide 10-40mg of polyphenols and its antioxidant capacity is greater than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots or strawberries.

So how much do you need to drink for anti-aging benefit?

Experts suggest drinking 3-10 cups a day for ideal anti aging benefit, health and even potential weight loss.  The problem with this is that 3-10 cups a day every day is a lot to consume.

An alternative is green tea extract.  You can find anti aging supplements that contain green tea extract.  The good ones will also contain other beneficial antioxidant properties to give you better anti aging care.

Check out Prograde Longevity, which not only contains green tea extract, but also the antioxidant acai berry and the powerful coffeeberry forte fruit
