Raising Taxes on Non Healthy Eating Habits |
A "fat tax" may actually be helpful in improving healthy eating habits, despite any skepticism that goes with it.
Researchers at the University of Buffalo sent people through a faux supermarket and found that charging an extra 10% on non healthy food snacks and products would lead shoppers to buy healthier items and carry away 6.5% fewer calories in their carts. Other studies have reported similar effects in real life situations.
So maybe raising the tax on sodas and junk foods would help those who lack self control to eat fewer calories. Would this stop you from buying unhealthy foods and start healthy eating habits? Leave your comments below.
