Healthy Eating Guidelines on Saturated Fat are Unclear

For many years now healthy eating guidelines have given us the message:  Stay away from Saturated Fat.  It will kill you!

There are now studies showing that saturated fat is not the culprit and does not contribute to heart disease like other fats or sugars do.

A new analysis of published studies finds no clear link between people's intake of saturated fat and their risk of developing heart disease.

In the new analysis, which combined the results of 21 previous studies and 348,000 participants, researchers found no clear evidence that higher saturated fat intakes led to higher risks of heart disease or stroke.

One commonality they are finding in all these studies is that people's diets are also high in sweets and other refined carbohydrates like white bread.  It could be that we were just looking in the wrong area for the culprit and the answer has been right under our nose the entire time.

So stick with true healthy eating guidelines and know how to change your healthy eating plans accordingly.
