Healthy Weight Loss Diets Can Save Your Life

Losing weight is easy: stop eating.  Far too many people actually try that way or a very similar path, rather than healthy weight loss diets when they want to slim down.

Study after study tells us that losing weight is a good thing if we’re heavy.  This is generally true.  There is less stress on the heart, the joints, and the body in general.  The problem is the way too many people go about it.

This is in part because, in addition to studies touting a healthy weight, are the myriad visual images that bombard us and try to convince us that an unhealthy weight is actually the ideal one.  This leads far too many of us, especially teenage girls--but no one is immune--to attempt to reach unrealistic weight loss goals through untenable "diets" that ultimately damage the body as much as obesity can.

Even if a person isn’t literally starving herself to death in an attempt to get thin, healthy weight loss diets are often eschewed because they do not offer the quick fixes many of the gimmick programs that exist do.  It is true that these heavily marketed products and plans will probably lead to weight loss.  Almost any radical change in diet will.

However, healthy weight loss diets differ from these programs in several ways.  First, you are not going to potentially damage your body.  Second, they are sustainable, as is the weight loss.  Do you want to lose 20 pounds now or lose 50 over six months and keep it off?
