The Top Holiday Favorites You Should Avoid So You Can Start The New Year Off Right

The holidays are a time for giving and being with family and friends to celebrate your respective holidays.

But with these celebrations, you may have CALORIE-TOPPING, NUTRIENT-DENSE foods, which may spell disaster for your weight loss goals.

But not all is lost…

Here at Jaylab Pro, we strive to provide you the BEST possible advice for weight loss.

And as a present to you, today we're giving you TWO lists for your holiday enjoyment.

One is five FOODS to avoid and three DESSERTS to avoid.

We hope you enjoy each list and wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

Top Five Worst Foods To Avoid:

Worst Food #1 - Glazed Ham

There is nothing wrong with ham - by itself.

Ham may be low in calories and fat.

However, most spiraled hams can easily add hidden calories and a TON of SODIUM.

The little pouch in which the spiral ham
comes is a WEIGHT LOSS NIGHTMARE.

It may be full of sugar and sodium, which might easily lead to EXCESS weight gain.

Curing the ham may make it a poor choice.

The curing process provides loads of sodium.

This may raise your sodium intake over the recommended amount per DAY.

That’s right, you may easily get over a DAY'S worth of Sodium in only 6 TINY OUNCES.

Worst Food #2 - Candied Yams

One of the best SUPERFOODS around is the sweet potato.

Full of vitamins, minerals, and healthy doses of fiber, sweet potatoes may make the perfect side dish.

But when you take this SUPERFOOD and transform it into candied yams, you are turning it from a superfood to a superdud.

Let me explain…

Candied yams have LOADS of sugar.

And most of the sugar comes BEFORE you start baking them

Then, by adding high calories, nutrient-lacking toppings like syrup and marshmallows, you are PACKING in the SUGAR.

Depending on your serving size, you may be SHOCKED by the amount of sugar found in candied yams.

Once serving may provide a whopping 25 grams, possibly causing you to ingest OVER the recommended amount of SUGAR per day.

All that sugar may lead to MORE WEIGHT GAIN.

Worst Food #3 - Swedish Meat Balls

A tasty side dish and usual staple (even at my house), Swedish meatballs are a healthy diet disaster.

Prepared with white bread, heavy cream, and plenty of beef broth, Swedish meatballs serve up LOADS of calories, fat, and sodium.

Topping the charts with over 400 calories per serving, Swedish meatballs should be a thing of your PAST.

Worst Food #4 - Eggnog

One of my all time favorite holiday drinks.

Eggnog, though, may be a silver bullet to WEIGHT LOSS.

Prepared with sugar, heavy cream, whipping cream and sometimes bourbon, this drink packs in the calories.

Eggnog provides more than half of your cholesterol intake, and plenty SUGAR in just ONE CUP.

It may be in your best interests to stay away.

Worst Food #5 - Mashed Potatoes

Another dish that, if prepared CORRECTLY, may provide your hard working body with essential vitamins and minerals your growing body needs.

But most mashed potato sides are not prepared CORRECTLY.

When prepared with cream, milk, butter, and salt, you are negating the essential nutrients found in potatoes.

Instead, you may be loading up on FAT and SODIUM, which may reach or top your fat and salt intake for the DAY.

Top Three Worst Desserts To Avoid

Worst Dessert #1 - Pecan Pie

Pecans naturally are a high-calorie nut.

Full of essential fats and fiber, pecans may just be the perfect snack to satisfy your cravings.

But when adding pie crust, butter, sugar, and corn syrup, one slice might cost you over 500 calories and a day's worth of sugar.

Your best bet: find a lower-calorie type of dessert.

So spare your hips and thighs the agony, and skip this popular but diet-deadly dessert.

Worst Dessert #2 - Fruit Cake

If you have ever had a fruit cake, you understand how anyone may like it.

On the other hand you understand why some people HATE it.

Either way, this dessert may be another nail in your weight-loss coffin.

Sure it sounds good, fruit and cake combined, but what you are missing OR NOT missing is the added calories and sugar in ONE SLICE.

Another dessert which may be full of sugar, butter, and corn syrup, fruit cake can top the calorie charts.

It may also contain WAY TOO MUCH FAT to be considered a “healthy” alternative.

Your best bet might be to stick with a slice of pumpkin pie.

Pumpkin pie may be lower in calories and full of vitamins, like beta carotene.

Worst Dessert #3 - Yule Log

Have you seen one of these before?

A simple chocolate cake layered with rich frosting and then “rolled” into a log.

However, you are missing the added sugar, fat, and calories that may be rolled up in this family favorite.

Throw in a few nuts as a topping, and you may DOUBLE or TRIPLE your calorie intake.

In one slice, you may be getting double your daily sugar intake recommendations.

Don’t Let Them Fool You

During the holiday season, you do not need to see your weight loss take a nosedive.

Simply avoiding or making smarter choices when it comes to what you eat, may keep you on track for the New Year and your resolutions.

But there may be other ways to stop the weight loss rollercoaster.

Eating a small meal with adequate protein, fiber, and healthy fats, may leave you feeling fuller.

This may prevent you from overindulging in your favorite holiday sides or desserts.
