The Easiest Way To Prevent A Stroke?
Stroke is STILL the fourth leading cause of death in developed nations.
Of course, lack of exercise, high-salt diet, smoking, and other factors may play a large role in your risk for having a stroke.
Due to the number of people that have a stroke yearly, many doctors and cardiologists recommend the use of blood pressure medications, in part, to reduce at least one risk factor associated with stroke development.
However, there are many other factors that you CAN change RIGHT now, that could reduce your future risk for having a stroke.
You should:
Start an exercise program to reduce your blood pressure and cholesterol…
You can include a lower-sodium diet to reduce your blood pressure…
And if you smoke, you can quit, which will not only reduce your risk for a stroke, but for cancer, lung disease, and other chronic diseases.
However, one of the EASIEST ways to reduce your risk comes in a way that you are very familiar with, but that most people do NOT take advantage of!
But the EASIEST way to reduce your risk factors…
INCLUDING MORE FISH into your diet!
The Evidence
Scientists, researchers, doctors, and cardiologists combined have struggled for years to find a suitable way to reduce your risk for having a stroke.
Although they have shown that diet and exercise are two of the TOP ways, they also have shown that the amount of fish you eat, may be directly associated with your risk for having a stroke.
In fact, a new study recently published could show that a HIGHER weekly fish intake may be linked to a reduced risk for stroke, in some cases by as much as 17 percent.
The researchers performed a meta-analysis that assessed 16 different studies involving 402,127 participants.
Of the participants, there were 10,568 incidences of strokes.
So here is where it gets GOOD!
They showed that people who ate fish at least 5 TIMES PER WEEK, showed a 13 percent decrease in their risk for having one of the many forms of stroke.
Now, when they looked at ischemic strokes (blockage in a vessel to, or in your brain), they showed that people who ate fish at least 5 TIMES PER WEEK, showed a 17 percent decrease in their risk for having a ischemic stroke.
They concluded:
“Accumulated evidence generated from this meta-analysis suggests that fish intake may have a protective effect against the risk for stroke, particularly ischemic stroke.”
There’s No Better Time than Right Now
Having a stroke may completely change the way you look at life, your quality of life, and your physical capabilities may be permanently altered.
Stroke, which is the number one disease that leads to disability, may be prevented by changing negative lifestyle factors and adding in positive ones.
Now, based on this study, lower fish intake may be negatively associated with stroke risk.
So for the sake of your brain, increase your intake of fish (which are full of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids), exercise, lower the sodium in your diet, and by quitting smoking, could go a long way for your health and reduce your risk for having stroke.
