These Popular Breakfast Staples Are Making You Fat

…The top 5 WORST Fat Food Breakfasts You Need To AVOID!

By Kevin DiDonato MS, CES—Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition and Certified Personal Trainer

Do you remember when your parents used to send you to school on a full belly?

They claimed you would have all the nutrition you needed to stay focused and do well in school.

Well, once again, they were right.

Breakfast has been said to be the “most important meal of the day,” and for good reason.

A hearty breakfast could provide the calories, nutrients, and means for you to make it through the morning rush full of energy and ready to tackle the day.

But there’s only one problem:

Most people don’t have time to make themselves a healthy breakfast.  Most people sleep in, rush around getting themselves (and maybe their kids) ready, and don’t have a moment to themselves to sit down and have a healthy breakfast.

And this could lead to less productivity, weight gain, and even put you at risk for catching a cold or the flu.

That’s why breakfast is so bloody important…

You can’t really get awesome results at work (which could lead to a raise or promotion) when there is nothing in the tank.

And this is precisely why you (and many others)…

Stop For a Fast Food Breakfast Most Mornings On Your Way To Work…

Face it…

Everywhere you look, there is a fast food restaurant staring you in the face.  It could be a Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, or even the good old Golden Arches.

Whatever the place is, it makes it easy to have breakfast on the go—even though it may not be the healthiest—or even most affordable breakfast out there.

Let’s take a look at some of the more popular breakfast options so you can see exactly why stopping at a fast food joint (at all) could end up leading to weight gain and frustration on your diet plan.

1. AM Wake Up Wraps

Most fast food places have one of these on the menu.   And even though they look good (pictures don’t lie), they are nothing more than processed eggs, breads, and chemical-laden cheeses.

Some variations just come with eggs, cheese, and your choice of sausage or bacon…while others may come with hash browns, creamy sauces, and chunks of ham, sausages, or bacon.

And even though it’s going to fill you up, it may leave you feeling sluggish, sick, or even bloated.

Most AM Wake Up Wraps contain 600 to 800 calories, almost a whole days’ worth of sodium (1,150mg), and plenty of fat and cholesterol.

Not one of the best ways to start your day.

2. Breakfast Platters

Quite a few fast food joints have a breakfast platter.  It comes with your standard eggs and bacon, but may also come with pancakes, biscuits and gravy, French toast, and hash browns.

Now, looking at the plate may take you back to your younger days or to a good, old-fashioned Hunter’s Breakfast…

…but there is nothing good when it comes to a breakfast platter!  Most breakfast platters contain way too many calories (700-900), 45g (or more) of fats, and over 1,600mgs of sodium.

3. Breakfast Burritos

Who doesn’t like a hearty burrito for breakfast?  A breakfast burrito is a great way to load a bunch of food into a flour tortilla and serve it up piping hot.

Most burritos have eggs, steak (or even chicken), bacon, hash browns, creamy sauces, and cheese (lots of it).

Plus, a typical breakfast burrito may also be loaded with salsa and topped with sour cream.  Sounds GREAT right?  WRONG.

A typical breakfast burrito tops out at over 800 calories, 50 grams of fat, and a whopping 1,700mg of sodium.

Plus, there could be upwards of 460mg of cholesterol packed into that mound of food.

4. The “BIG Breakfast”

Have you ever had a “big breakfast” before?  If so, you know just how lousy you may feel after having one.

And for good reason…

Most “big breakfasts” come with plenty of food (more than any one person should eat) with eggs, sausage, hash browns, and bacon.

Plus, it may even come with a stack of pancakes and a biscuit on the side.  This could easily give you HALF (or more than half) of your daily caloric needs.

A “big breakfast” rounds out at 1,150 calories, 60 grams of fat (with 575mg of cholesterol), and over 2,200mgs of sodium.

5. The Ultimate Breakfast Platter

This platter, found at one of the oldest fast food joints around, could be the WORST thing for your waistline.

This hearty plate contains eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes with syrup, biscuit, and hash browns.  This breakfast ranks up there as one of the unhealthiest options on any fast food menu around.

Since this plate is the unhealthiest, you would expect the calories to be out of-control, which they are at 1,450, fat grams coming in at 84, and sodium is just shy of 3,000mgs (2,920).  It also rounds out the unhealthy nutrition with a whopping 595mg of cholesterol.

Although there are many, many others, these five options round out the best (least calories) to the WORST (most calories) fast food breakfast options.

Not only could they make you feel lousy after eating them, they could also spike your weight gain and could increase your disease risk.

That’s why…

There Are Better Options For Breakfast That Could Accelerate Your Metabolism and Help You Burn Fat…

It’s time to face the facts:

What you’re eating currently for breakfast may be adding to your weight gain…increasing your risk for diabetes and heart disease…and could be making you feel more like a slug every day.

That’s why it’s important that you get up a few minutes early and make yourself a healthy breakfast.

It doesn’t have to be crazy…or elaborate…

You just need to make sure you have the basic ingredients:  A protein, fast-digesting carbs, and healthy fats.

For example, you could easily have a crustless quiche, an egg bake, or scrambled eggs with fruit and veggies on the side.

Another great example could be an omelet (made with 3 eggs) packed with spinach, feta cheese, mushrooms, or any of your favorite veggies.  In fact, here’s one of my favorite egg white recipes you can use:

Summer Garden Omelet

½ cup chopped zucchini
1/3 cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green pepper
2 tsp. Butter
3 eggs
¼ cup fat-¬free milk
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp. Pepper
2 slices cheese

Directions:

In a 10in skillet coated with cooking spray, sauté the zucchini, onion, and green pepper in butter until tender. Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk the, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour into skillet; cook over medium heat. As eggs set, lift edges, letting uncooked portion flow underneath. When the eggs are set, place cheese on one side; fold omelet over cheese. Remove from the heat. Cover and let stand for 1 ½ minutes or until cheese is melted.

Pair that with some berries or some cantaloupe and you can have a healthy, low-calorie breakfast made in only 5 minutes.

But if you’re in a hurry, the next page will give you some pointers on how to make a healthy breakfast shake (packed full of protein, carbs, fiber, and fats) that will fuel you through your morning.

Whatever you decide, eating breakfast is one of the most important things you can do to help speed up your fat loss, get in better shape, and strip inches off your body.

Be sure to pass this important artlce, video, and recipe onto your family and friends so they can enjoy the benefits of eating breakfast.
